I checked mine after reading this thread and had 2 that were 3 months old. Hmmm. I only want to add that you can select to receive an email notification of a PM in your user profile. This is the default on other forums I visit, but has to be selected here.

Thanks for the note Aldo!! You're right, seems like it is doing what it was supposed to now. I could actually delete stuff and manage the inbox now. As bjcsc noted, previously you had to have the email notification thing selected, but you couldn't "manage" it. Cool!!

sorry for the headaches with the PMs,
after going back and forth with the developer for a long time, and not getting anywhere, i decided to fix it myself.

they should be working as intended now.

Good on you for the heads up. I had a two day old message that I may have never checked on. Be nice if the little box showed unread PM's

i changed it to display the number of PMs,
currently it should show the number of unread PMs,
