I've got a 1971 Mercury 110 9.8hp outboard with a stuck tiller handle

.....help....how to un-stick it is the problem....I can't rotate the throttle handle for starting, idling, or WOT......Anybody else have this problem? Any help is appreciated...Thank you

Yes Sir, sure am.....I guess this motor hasn't ran in probably 4-5 years now and I got a hold of it for $200...and now trying to get everything cleaned up and operating like it should...I made sure it was in neutral first thing, didn't work and then put it in forward gear and still nothing. I'm out of ideas on this one...and thank you for your help....

Somebody screwed it up. Then sells it for $200. DIY ruins motors. Then sells them cheaply.

This is what I found in the '75 manual - if it uses screws they're Nr. 3 Philips, undo them and pull the handle out; maybe all it needs is greasing. There's a possibility that the stator plate under the flywheel is stiff/seized only way to find out is to try and rotate it.

Thank you for the info.....yes I got it off the main frame and it's frozen and won't turn......tired of fighting it and wresling with it so I found another one on a web page....should be here Friday or Saturday....I'll let you all know what it does.....

So you removed the Tiller Handle, and it is Frozen, or is the Part still part of the Engine still Frozen?
As for the "other one on..." Is that a Complete Motor, or just the Tiller Handle?

Yup came in right on time, greased the gears on the engine and the "new" tiller handle and it works as it should have from the start.....thanks for the replies/advice and I'll keep yas informed....really appreciate the web site...
