Re: I've got to choose between 2 used Evinrude motors. Which is the better bargain?
Just got off the phone with the seller. He told me that his marine mechanic was the one who went over the entire motor.....and rebuild the carb and dialed in needles etc. Owner wanted to make sure it was safe for his kids. Boat comes with all safety gear(fire extinguisher, flares, all naviagtion lights etc. He said he replaced his flares because the old ones were past expiration date. That's prob a good sign as to how's cared for the boat.
He said his neighbor has 3 Old Evinrudes (30i-sh hp and up from what I gather) that he'll sell me for $50 for all 3! He said that many parts were compatible with the 1958 Bigtwin that comes with the boat. Worse case scenario....I'll part the motors out.
Is it safe to assume that many of the old Evinrudes/Johnson used alot of the same parts year after year?
