jack plate

I am going to put a jack plate on my bass boat and would like to know if I have to have new steering cables. It will have a 5and a half set back.

coupla things will determine what can be done, even with whats considered a "short" jp.....one concern is how/where they exit tha hull...brand of boat?

Too many unknown variables to even try and make a guess. Need pictures and specifics as to motor, boat hull, steering options and such for starters...
