Jacking up Trailer during winter

I have decided to put my trailer on axle stands this winter to get the tires off the ground. We are told when jacking up the axle, to do so as close to the wheel as possible, presumably so you don't bend the axle. Is this an okay place to put the axle stands? I certainly don't want to bend my frame just to save a couple hundred bucks on tires.

When I do mine I jack up my trailer just till the tires are off the ground. Then I place a jack stand under the trailer frame just in front of and just behind each tire. This way I don?t have pressure on either tire or the axle.

It pretty much depends on what type of axle, some lighter trailers have only a light rolled sheet metal type axle which is hollow in the center, those you should be more careful with. The safest place to jack is usually right under the leaf spring or where the u bolts attach to the springs.

being up in the great white north country, i put cinder blocks under the whole trailer with a 6" incline, that supports the trailer and unloads the springs

I don't even worry about flat spots on the tires, I have radials. I didn't even know it was a problem with modern bias tires either.

I do the same but remember to put a block of wood or plywood between the blocks and the frame.

It keeps the blocks from scratching the frame. I also think it might help distribute the pressure a little more evenly. I always have some concern that a point of pressure on the blocks could cause it to crack.

When I used to do that, I would jack up each side of the axle up about 3 or 4 inches,
and then block it up. That is sufficient to take most of the weight off of the tires.

Haven't even bothered to do that for years. Still makes sense to do it, though.
