Jackplate on aluminum boat?

Hey guys .... I'm running a 1984 Starcraft 171/2' aluminum bass boat with a 90hp Johnson with trim&tilt. I think it's a great rig for my needs and most of the time I'm very happy with it. Last weekend I was fishing a tournament and the wind was horriffic. When I had to run, it seemed I could never get the bow up high enough to stay dry (me, parter, two 6 gal gas tanks, rear livewell). I didn't let it get dangerous, but I never could run very fast in the conditions we had.
I'm wondering if moving the outboard back another 4" or 6" would help. This is a semi-vee boat, no pad, not a high-performance hull. (I may have just answered my question with that last statement.)
Thanks in advance for your input!

I do not think it will help out. You would be better off just living with it. Setting that 300 lb motor back 4-6" will really stress the transom and probably allow you to add speed to the top end. You are right...... it's not a high performance hull.

leave it alone, you just have to boat to the conditions, every one else had the same weather.
