Jackplate

I recently bought a used flats boat and it has a jackplate, but the guy that had it before was apparently not too handy and it was not hooked up. I may not be too handy, but I at least want to give it a shot. What is the basic wiring diagram for a jack plat? As far as what wires should I have and what do they do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are several manufacturers of hydro-electric jackplates, MDeVito, and each makes more than one model.<br /><br />They are certainly not identical. So any help we can give you must be for a particular make and model.
