.you antique does not have a CDI so that takes it out of the picture. a mag ignition with maint will out last the owner every time. it rarely cross fires and rarely just quits. I am talking half way modern equipment. Ihave seen one regulator fire on a 250yam that had an electric pot puller. it lasted 4 years before it lit off. most jonnyrude and mercs wont make 2 seasons with the entire motor. electronics aside most the mechanicals are about equal.its the failure prone US stuff I complain about.I dont consider failures due to poor fuel and lack of maint just failure on well maintained low hour use rigs.
