What do you know about MSMA? I know you are in the extermination business, but you know alot about chemicals too. I was told that it will kill everything except bermuda. I want my yard to look like a golf course next year. My front yard is there with the zoysia, but my side and back yard look like crap. What can I do?

Nate, you are correct about MSMA and it will also burn the snot out of your burmuda grass too but it will come back. Another thing that burmuda likes is to be cut close. Also a good dose of fertilzer 13-13-13 then some amonia nitrate will tune it up too.

Careful... Amonia Nitrate will get you on the FBI list for sure!

Maybe its Amonium Nitrate.. Dunno if we are talking about the same thing?

(I hear they are taking names when you buy that stuff.. Dunno if it's true)

Ahh yes.. what a world we live in.. You can't even spruce the lawn without big brother watching!

H.

I dont imagine the FBI is going to come swooping down on a guy that buys a couple hundred pounds of fertilizer to put on his grass. I didn't notice them writing my name down when I bought mine last year to use on the corn in my garden or the lawn at my house.

beware Nate... I saw a suspicious guy at agway the
other day. he looked/talked like a farmer, but his
pick-up was just too dang clean :p

try a fall type weed/feed for problem area. if in
spring it's still real bad, easier to just re-seed
lots of times.

i haven't heard of MSMA, but also remember that you can aerate to make nices holes and re-seed with your brand of carpet grass, and in the early spring you can use plant killer while the carpet grass is still dormant(brown) and the fescue is already green. it will kill the broadleaf/green stuff and leave the dormant stuff alive. just a way i've helped bermuda takeover in fescue areas... :D

uh, just remember to use a chem that is absorbed thru the leaves, not roots. i think i used roundup. oops almost forgot to add: if you're trying to get carpetgrass seeded now, it probably won't be established enough to do this next spring. i'd give it at least 3-4mos of growth, and it may be too late in the year for your region?
