No doubt that the serial number is 4346-02045 on the little Evinrude Sportsman I have. It's actually in pretty good condition save a cracked cylinder head. Thank you for the 1940 date and 2 hp information. Do you know where I can find out more about it? I would really like to find a replacement cylinder head. Any idea about interchanging parts from one year to the next?
Again, thanks for the reply.
scwaters

You might find a head at tcoutboard.com, scwaters. They seem to have anything ever made (used).

You might get some info from the Antique Outboard Motor Club Int'l, including manual, etc. aomci.com or aomci.org, forget which.

Good luck. :)
