I don't appreciate the insinuation, nay outright audacity of you "moderators". You seem a bit more than "moderate". I've never been treated like this before when suggesting a product....seacast, tacometals, ect. Goes to show.. no good deed goes unpunished.

So,here goes the PC Moderated moterate version:

Hey all,

I found a mediocre product that the makers (with whom I have NO affiliation) claim can be used above and below the waterline without the blistering that other brands experience. Anyhow, It's probably not even worth checking out. It's called signature finish (sorry no link).

BTW...This is not SPAM.
SPAM is defined as:
1. Nobody wants it or ever asks for it.

2. No one ever eats it; it is the first item to be pushed to the side when eating the entree.

3. Sometimes it is actually tasty, like 1% of junk mail that is really useful to some people.

It's not a sales pitch either. Most of what I typed is NOT on the company's website. SO, to save everyone the time of calling themselves...I posted what I had learned.
Many have asked/wished for such a product.

I even have an iBoats hitch cover on my truck.

I suppose in the following post I'm soliciting the Coast Guard...I must work for them too, huh.

One of my other posts on Iboats

outonbiz -
May I be the first to apologize for calling you a spammer. I was mistaken. In the future please, please, please let everyone know that you are not involved with the company in any way but are just wildly excited about a product. This will solve this confusion.

If you look at it from our side - you had only two posts on our boards at all and both were a wonderfully written sales piece. Hope you can see why we were mistaken. We look forward to your continued posts. Peace?

Re: JB

Thank you very much. It takes a big person to apologize on such a public forum.

I am using this account oob2 because my origional, outonbizniz, was registered to an email address that I no longer have and i have lost the password. If you could reset the password on my origional account and send it to my new address it would be much appreciated.

Yes, PEACE.

Re: JB

Glad things are straightened out. Please click on the contact form at the bottom of the page and send in your request with as much info on the first account as possible. The person responsible for helping with lost account info will then help you probably the first part of next week.

Re: JB

OOB2.

My apologies, also. I, too, misunderstood your post, as well as your response to Admin5.

I can see now that you were only trying to help members find a new product.

We make mistakes. That was one. I hope you will write it off as such and continue to post here.

outonbizniz2 – Thank you for bringing this up.

JB – The other belittling comments in other postings have not gone un-noticed.

Admin – This could be an otherwise stellar forum. Your decision.

OOB2..It looked like a advirtisment to me also, Glad it is just zealous product approval. This place is about honest testimonial's and past expierences, please understand Mgt attempt to keep it that way, It's not always easy to distinguish.

Mgt,...This is a stellar site for these reasons, keep it up. I expect pruduct dialogue from users here not marketers, that's what sets this place apart. I can go to any marketers website if I wanna hear how wonderful "THEIR" product is.

And yes I also am glad to know of products that outproform their expectations, so long as that is the opinion of the end user and not that of a dealer.

Re: JB

Sure thing rabbit.

Crab Bait! I figured you'd still be around.

WHile sanding endlessly last night I realized I should not have used Gluvit. It has caused me 10x the work. I went on so thick that it could not be tipped. I have brush marks everywhere and the stuff if hard to sand. Gums up the paper immediately. When I called the makers of sig finish I told them of my issues. They informed that i should dust with auto primer and then sand. I worked great. I can now sand my hull and complete my prep work. BTW...the makers also told me that it will work on any primer. That worries me a bit as it doesn't sound like good painting practice. Oh well, at least I'll finally be ready to paint soon. Now if I could only get my trailer fixed up.

outonbizniz2,

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with your project. Where did you use the Gluv It. Was it on the exterior?

Yes, it can be hard to sand, that's why I always use on the inside.

Let us know how you made out. Real curious.

Re: JB

DJ. I used it on the exterior to help fill/seal crazing of my 1960s hull. I think it's overkill but it DID do a nice job of sealing it up. I wouldn't use it in this way if I had to do it again. But, if you're paranoid about crazing, I think it helps.

Click on the little yellow dude standing next to the house to see my project as it stood earlier last year. I will be adding hull prep pics in the next 2 days.

Re: JB

They pulled a similar stunt a while back when a new poster (who was really new to boating and needed some help)asked about the new generic Merc Alpha 1 clones.
He was immediatly branded a spammer and posts were locked and or deleted. A big issue was also made that iboats sells outdrives (but not THAT outdrive..) so the topic was forbidden.
I exchanged emails with the OP on that topic and directed him to another site that isn't quite so paranoid and he has become a pretty active member there.

The real punch line is that iboats now is pushing in the banner ads these same generic outdrives that were persona non grata and branded as junk and spam by several of the members a few weeks back.

That thing is coming right along. I have a 1961 75 johnson and a 1965 60 johnson and most of the parts are interchangeable. That old motor is heavy but tough. Keep on keeping on

That thread was closed because of the heat it generated amongst members, not because of the source of the components.

I remember a member getting irate because he could not get an answer to his technical questions, regarding the drives, on Christmas day!

Reread the postS and you will see that the specific remark was made regarding IBOATS selling drives and the accusations of spamming....

Re: JB

Bomar

I didn't participate in the squabble over the outdrives, but my recollections are a bit different than yours.

iboats owns this site. iboats sells outdrives, including rebuilt Alpha One drives.

It is policy that we ask members not to promote or recommend the competition. Do you find that unreasonable?

I do not recall the other source being accused by a moderator of selling junk, nor do I recall the member who was asked not to promote the competition being called a SPAMMER by a moderator. There was some bitter exchange between members, and for that reason the thread was closed.

We moderate more than 100,000 posts a year. There are certain to be occasions when you, or someone else don't like what we do, and there are certain to be mistakes made by moderators.

When we recognize a mistake, we apologize.

That's the best we can do. If we ever got perfect we might require it of posters. :D
