Re: JB

It is policy that we ask members not to promote or recommend the competition. Do you find that unreasonable?
Yes.

Restricting discussions to avoid mention or recommendation of any competitor’s positive attributes yields little more than a giant promotional advertisement for iBoats. If iBoats is a reputable business that is reasonably competitive (and it is!), the business will thrive on open dialog, regardless of the subject. Both the return on expectation and the quality of service(s), far out weigh lower prices in establishing customer loyalty. Restricting discussions reduces the quality of the service of that is these forums…and these forums are the gateway to future retail sells.

We moderate more than 100,000 posts a year. There are certain to be occasions when you, or someone else don't like what we do, and there are certain to be mistakes made by moderators.
There is never an excuse for a moderator to post sarcasm or belittling comments. That will do more to preclude retail purchases than any open discussion will.

Re: JB

Interesting position on policy, 18rabbit. We would have to get into semantic quibbling to seperate open discussion from promotion, and I think semantic quibbling would bear no fruit.

No excuse for sarcasm or other offensive comments? I agree. Sometimes there is no excuse for being human. The only thing we. . .or you. . .can do is recognise an error and apologize. If we disagree on some comment or post, well, we disagree.

Thanks for explaining your earlier attack. :)
