Does anyone know what the value of a 20' 1978 Sundown Marine Jet Boat is? Also, where can I get more information about the boat. It seems like it is not a very common boat and I can't seem to find anything about it. I am looking at one that is for sale. It is in decent shape and has a 455 big block. Thanks in advance!!

Boats are not like cars/trucks. Most boat makers are small and tend to not be in busines very long.

You have three threads going on this boat. It's getting hard to follow.

Most '70s jets with big blocks go for around $3-5 grand depending on the condition.

Re: Jet Boat??

Great! Thanks everyone. I actually bought the boat. It actually has a 454 Chevy in it. Worked on the engine last week and should have it running this weekend. It has a berkley Jet drive. Does anyone know how to run it out of water??

I'm not sure--I have a newer Sea-Doo jetboat. you can try Tim Place at placediverter.com They make a lot of Berkley jet parts (and go-fast accessories) Tim was very helpful when I purchased a trim late for my Merc jet
good luck!!

Re: Jet Boat??

From inside the boat, looking at the transom, there should be a water hose coming off the upper right side of the jet drive housing feeding water to the engine. Disconnect the hose and connect it to a garden hose. I was told you should minimize the amount of time you run a Berkeley jet out of the water as they are supposedly balanced when in the water and that undue wear will occur when out. I ran mine a few times out of the water and never had a problem. The shaft is supported on one side with a big ball bearing and the other with a bushing.

Thanks Navigator!

I will only need to run it for a short period of time (just to see if the engine will run).
