Jet in carb kit is a different size ?

I just put a carb kit into my 1981 Evinrude 35 hp, when I compared the new jet to the old jet the orifice seemed to be a fair bit larger in the old jet. The old jet had 2 small dots stamped into the top face, the replacement jet had ZERO marking of any kind.
Is this an optical illusion ? or perhaps the jet with the 2 dots is not an original ? just curious if anyone had run into this before.

Is that a jet or the seat for the needle? On a side note, was the float out of the carb kit the same size as the old float?

That's the seat for the inlet needle and it should be fine to replace..

yes it is the seat for the needle, should not post late in the day when tired.
the float was the same size as the old one. I will test it our after I get the water pump kit installed and a new thermostat.
