He probably lost directional control letting off the throttle. Those things won't steer when not under power. Probably a newbie rider with no business on the water.
I never could stand those things, whether to ride them or having to deal with them on the water. Just not my idea of a boat, I like boats that keep the occupants dry. If I wanted to get wet, I'd go swimming or take a shower.

Agreed, anyone could go up to a DNR officer and make up any story they wanted against someone.
That officer should lose his job if he actually issued a citation IMO.

THAT"S CRAP !!! If there's some jerk on the water putting himself (or herself) or someone else at risk anybody who doesn't do something is just as bad. Get INVOLVED. That said the cop should not write a citation and sign his name that all these facts and figures are true....that's when the complainant needs to stand up in court and say this is what I saw or better yet have pictures. Now maybe it won't get that far....let's say the aforementioned jerk gets the citation and admits " yeah, I was being reckless" pleads guilty, no trial. Maybe he'll think about who might be nearby next time. This is ofcourse my nonlegalese opinion, but GEEZ if we can't make a complaint to law enforcement personnel what's the next step? vigilantteeism? Moral?...COURTESY!!!

Wrong. We have laws for a reason, otherwise any butthurt individual could say YOU were being reckless, just because he doesn't like you.

No one said you can't make a complaint, an officer can't issue a citation based on said complaint.

Actually, yes he can! what he can't do is go into court and testify to anything other than that somebody came to him and complained and what the results of his investigation might be. Unless, of course the person being investigated says something of substance, like maybe " yeah, i did that".
Yes, anybody can say pretty much anything about anybody( defamation and slander aside) but when they sign a statement of fact that the officer is going to use as a basis for their investigation, that is a legal document, and providing false sworn testimony is also a crime.
Anyhow, the moral is COURTESY and if you behave around others like you would want them to behave around you, the water would be a lot safer. Of course I also understand today's mentality of" I'll do what I wantband when something goes wrong I'll go sue somebody."
If somebody wants to remove themselves from the gene pool go have at it...just stay away from me and people I am responsible for.
Have a nice day!

And I would be MORE than happy to go testify...as would the other three people involved. I told the officer that when I talked to him on the phone.

BEAUTIFUL!.... That's what we need people who know how to stand up for themselves. The water would be a lot safer if these people understand that they not only have to watch for cops, but HEY, anybody out here could report me.

Bravo. Keep us posted on what happens:)
