Re: Jetski justice
Several years ago New Jersey made a law requiring jetski riders to have a boating certificate. This reduced the numbers of jetskis greatly, best thing that could of happened. Before the law was passed there would be 25 or so jetskis wildly driving all over a local creek. After the law, the number is reduced to 4- 5 at a time.

Before the law was passed I had a personal incident with a jetski rider. I was out in my 19 foot bowrider (nice and heavy), and idling up the creek holding my 1 year old son, on a nice quiet, sunny, Saturday morning. A jet skier on a perpendicular course starts to pass behind me, but as he crosses my wake, he turns 90 degrees and proceeds to head directly for me at 30 MPH. As he gets closer, I expect he will change course, and not hit me. However as he gets closer still, I see he has his eyes closed, maybe he got salt water in them, however he is still on a collision course with me. I wondered what/if I should start to change course, but I was unsure which way to turn, since he would likely be making random course changes. I also wondered what would happen to my boat if he hit that flat full transom with his jet ski. I knew it would be bad for him!
I was just about to gun the motor and pick a direction which hopefully he wouldn't choose, when he opened his eyes and turned off.
