JetStar boat tires? Quality tires?

This is my first post here. I am considering purchasing a 2290L Southwind(BenningtonMarine) hybrid deckboat (i.e. hull w/ pontoon deck). It is packaged at a Winchester, TN dealership with an MFI(brand) tandem trailer made locally which comes with Jetstar radial tires (Bias tires also available). Should I ask for the tires to be replaced with another quality brand that is SP-rated and made in USA? Has anyone had any experences with this brand tire? The answer to this question is the only factor I question about the whole package. Thanks in advance!

Is there any reason why you would question the tire brand on the trailer while there are no questions on any other part of this purchase?

I have had tow-master tires, GY Marathon radials, and most recently transmaster tires. It is my opinion that nearly all trailer tires are fairly poor. quality and plan on just replacing them every 3-5 yrs. If you like the boat otherwise just buy it, tires are cheap.

Because I know nothing of tire quality on boat trailers or I would not have posted the question. Thanks for responding.

Makes sense. If they are load-rated SP tires, I assume they will last and more than likely be replaced as a result of age---not wear. I won't be doing much towing and plan to leave it in a large lake covered slip(April--November) and dry storage it other months near the lake. I MAY occassionally trailer it to other nearby lakes. Thanks for your sensible response.

Are you sure you are not talking about ST tires? Not sure what SP is.

ST is correct and what I meant. SP was a typo. Thanks.

The reason for my question was that I own several boats with trailers along with two other trailers that I use for a side business. With this in mind I tend to pay attention when there might be a problem with certain tire brands. I try to avoid spending money on known problem brands. But I'm sure you already knew that from the tone of your reply!
