Re: Jetstream LED Wake Light

no idea about them.

myself though, i'd be concerned with what the uscg would think of them or local leo. in that pic, that could look like a red light. or the same color as a portside bow light. that could be distracting to other boaters who may assume they are the give way vessel. + when i'm boating at night, the less light i got on board the better i can see into the dark. that looks like it could produce quite a bit of light. granted red is least disturbing to night vision.

that said, it does look cool...

Some boats are coming with those from the factory even... That pic is either photoshopped, or the red sensitivity of that camera is off the charts. They don't put out that much light. (looking closer, its very clearly photoshopped)

They aren't an issue to other boaters, in fact, its nearly impossible to see them from more than 100 feet away.

I have two attwood underwater led, but they are white. Great for looks under the swim platform. Look pretty cool with the led lights I put in the gunnels. Got them cheap on ebay over the winter. Coastal night lights mentioned above are very reasonable ans the product is good. Service is suppose to be excelent.

Here is a pic of mine in very murky water after a flood last year on the ohio.

Sad to know they photo shopped their own pictures on their site. I would think these lights, when they are white, would be a great fishing light as well for night fishing. They have different wattages and different colors...even have some that change color.

chriscraft254,
simply awesome!
which attwood ones did you get? 3 or 6?
i stayed away from the white ones,(now i see thats not necessary), i went with blue
because up here we try to keep the mighty ohio nice and coffe colered for you folks down there
(if you guys find my bumpers down there send em back:eek:)
what and how did you do the interior lights that red is sick my friend, good job!

PrinceValium,
as you can see lots of options out there
shop around and post what you find and what you end up with.
from what i here green penetrates the most followed by blue, however, white looks like it does even better

i dont think the CG is ticketing for running with them on (yet)
that is why i stayed away from green because of the confusion on the water
i guess the white could be considered a transom light, right color anyway.
just make sure you mount them low enough that waves dont put them outa the water while on the hook or drifting
you will mess up someones night vision
i saw a youtube post that showed that here it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vin5jbeKmPU&feature=related
small waves too

while i am at it here is some blue ones running http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp9nCN3lfVY&feature=fvsr

also cant miss this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEP2EiC-grM

Only law enforcement can legally run blue lights on their boat.

True NSBCraig, but there is a caveat with that. I'm paraphrasing here...

Only authorized emergency vehicles shall display a flashing colored/hued visable emergency signal and must be accompanied with an electronic audible signal as well...

Basically, if you have blue LED's that don't flash, you're fine. Your also only supposed to used them while stationary, but I think that's a little tough for law enforcement to give out anything except a verbal warning about. Underwater LEDs are too new on the market and the lawmakers haven't made time to put anything in writing about them...yet. I asked before installing mine.

Here are mine in the murky waters of Jacksonville. I also have white lights under there too. In the clear water, you'd be amazed at the amount of large fish attracted to the blue lights.

I highly doubt any law enforcement would have an issue with these. I've seen them firsthand, both from a nearby boat as well as being on the same boat. Once you get a little ways away, you can't even see they are on. Law enforcement wouldn't care because they can't even see them.

See that is what I thought about the lights...using those night lights attracts the bait fish to the light and the big fish stay just outside the light waiting to rush if or the bait fish. Tossing your line just at the edge of the light can produce a good strike. This is not what I want the lights for...but it is a good plus.

Thanks and Np, I am sure mine are not as bright as some of the others, but I really like em.

Thanks man, these actually have 9 large lights in them. They also say malibu across the lens so maybe they were for a specific boat builder.

The interior lights are Rgb lights. They turn 7 different colors, flash, fade, bump to music, dim and static on any of the 7 colors. I got them from Rob at Xtremeled.com. Customer service will cost you a little more than the ebay lights but worth it when you have questions imo. he is great to deal with. My install pics are in my refurb thread below in my sig.

I beg to differ when people say these are illegal to run underway. How many cruise liners do you see with multiple different colors on all the time. Back lit names etc. *** already stated, as long as you are not flashing them while underway and are displaying the proper running lights as well, there should be no problems. I have never seen a under water light on any boat that was blinding to anyone while underway or sitting still. One thing I do know is you will see my boat coming at night while underway for sure. :)

Re: Jetstream LED Wake Light

How do these Mount? Are you screwing them to the transom, or cutting holes and surface mounting them? They look awesome, pretty sure I don't want to cut holes that size in my boat though.

I would be worried about the dreaded leak...not to mention cutting into my brand new stern....I would have to have someone install them...lol

Mine required a 1/4 inch hole for the wire to run through transom and two mounting screws. takes ten minutes to install and just 5200 the holes. Simple as pie, and will never leak.

Re: Jetstream LED Wake Light

As it was explained to me by a Florida Wildlife officer blue lights anywhere on your boat are illegal, he didn't add anything about flashing or not.

I think it's the same to them as a car. You can't put blue neon under your car (or bike) either. (Paris Hilton even got pulled over by FHP on that show she made for running blue lights under her truck)

I was just putting it out there, what you chose to do with the info is up to you.

Please don't misunderstand me I love them, kind of the coolest thing I've seen in years, and they do work for bringing fish to you!
