having trouble installing a new kill switch, the attached photo shows my wiring for a 99 johnson 115, i know its the yellow and black wire and then a ground wire (black and white) that i "tap" into, then those 2 wires go to the "M" sides of the kill switch. problem is, when i do all the above it wont crank! undo all the above fires right up! what am i doing wrong. (boat has never had a kill switch before

absolutely, thats what i did, black/yellow to M side, there is no solid black wire, its black/white, hooked it to the other M terminal on kill switch. nothing so i ran a jumper from neg side of battery to kill switch, still nothing.
something so easy!

Should be nice and simple. Try this: "Tap" into your ignition circuit at or near the key switch. (Probably a purple wire, but it could be different on your key switch. Red is 12v. power, Yellow is starter, Purple is usually the ignition side of the key switch). Tap into the ignition circuit wire and make a connection on the 'M' connector on the kill switch. Connect the other 'M' connector on the kill switch to a good ground wire near the key switch. Start the motor, and pull the landyard. The motor should die. Post your results please.
