johnson 115 losing prime

I have a 83 johnson 115 which i'm having 2 problems with. 1. fast idle control for starting doesn't seem to be working(I removed the front control box and everything seemed fine inside and there isn't much room for adjustment at the motor.) 2. it's losing prime,if you pump the ball till it's hard it'll start but at times it quits (which partly relates to problem 1 )and you have to start all over again,this problem also happens every time you restart regardless of how long it's been off.(2 minutes or days)The boat has a built in tank if that matters and the ball and hoses to motor were just replaced.Anyone have an idea to share?

Dan, I just had a similar problem,check the fuel inlet hose to the fuel pump! Mine was cracked and leaking bill

I have a Force 125 and had a similar problem. I rebuilt my carbs and found some buildup on the needles. This fixed my problems.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Bryan Cox
