I have a 1995 johnson 115, i diagnosed the problem as a bad voltage regulator and checked the part. The number on it is 584847. I checked my dealor and they have the same part number.

Today I received the new part, they are the same OMC number and look alike but the new part does not have a purple wire. Is this wrong or did they change something????

It's the right part okay, just a little different from the old one. The new one doesn't need the purple wire.

c/6
Hooty

Ok, the boat runs great now but my gages aren't reading right. Do I have to wire the gagues differentlt since no purple wire???

The tack won't read at all at idle and the volt meter is pegged

I just pulled the volt gague out and stuck a meter on it , it read 12.13v with the key on and 13.5v with the motor running. I guess the meter is trashed.

Gauge sounds okay. The voltage will go up when the engine's runnin'.

c/6
Hooty
