Really though NO wars. I want to hear people experience with the Quicksilver. I've ran the other big name brands, this one is on the list to try next.

I want the honest opinion from people who have used Quicksilver Premium Plus 2 stroke oil.

It has high levels of Moly, which is great for protection.... however My question is, does it also cause lots of carbon/soot?

Here are vrigin lab results comparing Pensoil Prem Plus and Quicksilver prem plus. Left number is the Penz and right is Merc

Pennz Premium/Mercury Premium Plus
Copper - 0/0
Iron - 0/3
Chromium - 0/0
Aluminum - 0/6
Lead - 0/0

Additives(PPM):
Molybdenum -2/1050 <<<< Check out that moly difference!
Phosphorus - 9/32
Zinc - 15/39
Magnesium - 0/0
Calcium - 38/120

Sulfur - 72%/0 << Why is there sulfur in unburnt oil !?
Oxidation - 11%/0
Nitration - 5%/0
Soot - 0%/0

Carbon is an element. So is Moly. Moly can't leave "carbon" deposits. But I suppose it could leave moly deposits---I'm no chemist. But it would be highly doubtful that the Quicksilver oil would do anything like that.

About the only things you can determine as a differences between outboard oils is the amount of smoke, and what it smells like, the rest is voodoo. Well, there is another thing, synthetics tend to run cleaner.

Anytime an oil question is asked just about every person says "I've used XXXX brand of oil for decades and never had a problem", nobody can ever show, or even claims there was a problem with any brand. The problem is rarely a brand or type of oil, it's always NO oil that's the issue.

I use Penzoil on all my motors and recommend it to others. No apparent problems and it is a lot less expensive.

Penz prem plus is the same price as Quicksilver prem plus at academy. Oddly the Penz XLF is $17.50/gallon. The other two are $19.99.

I ran the penz prem in my Force 50 without issues. Seemed to be a clean burning oil, went thought 3 gallons of it and never tried anything else.

My question is the difference between the Quicksilver and Penz. That additional moly has to be there for a reason, overkill on the protection resulting in lots of carbon/soot. Is it necessary to run quicksilver... NO. That I know. No doubt on Penz's oil to be up to par, but if the two oils are the same cost. Is the one really better?

Quicksilver is as good as anybodies oil. It's the mercury factory brand do you think they are cheaping out on it. Remember this Mercury wants you to use their oil in their expensive motor that they are going to warranty. I have used it and never had a problem with it I am using it right now to break in my rebuilt 70 hp evinrude because the mercury dealer is closer.
