Johnson 140hp Tach/ Rectifier Problem

I noticed that my tach was not working. This has happened in the past and I had the rectifier replaced by the shop. I will refer to the seloc manual for the proper diagnosis as to wether the rectifier is NG. If the rectifier is NG can I use a NAPA Rectifier?

Sure Dude....Just make sure you get the right part number for the rectifier.<br /><br />Quick test for the tach.....with the key on (engine not running), jump the signal lug on the tach to ground. If the tach needle pegs, tach is good. (Joe Reeves learnt me that one.... )

Thanks OBJ, Joe bailed us out again. I will check out the rectifier as soon as possible which maybe in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know. By the way its a 1985 140 hp Johnson
