My Johnson 15 hp 4stroke broke the camshaft sprocket in the Sea of Cortez. I brought the engine home and bought the parts to fix it. I have the flywheel off and see a white line under the crankshaft sprocket. How does this line up with arrow on cam sprocket for correct valve timing? I would like to put together asap so all help is appreciated.

If we happen to have the right manual, Neckman, we still need a model number.

I am surprised that you worked on it at all without a manual.

Let us know. :)

1. Rotate cam pulley to align pointer with extrusion on manual starter boss.
2. Rotate crankshaft clockwise to align white mark on lower belt guide with crankcase to cylinder splitline on port side.
3. Install belt on pulley.
NOTE Do not distrub position of the pulleys while installing the belt.
4. Install the upper belt guide and nut onto the crankshaft.

For 1996 9.9/15 four stroke.
