still have this problem. 1998 johnson 150 oceanrunner. check engine alarm sounded a few times last year. in the spring, it was gone. about 2 months ago, it started again.

there is no trend that i can tell. sometimes it goes off at 3000 rpms with a cold engine. other times it goes off after running at 4000 rpms for 30 minutes. yesterday, it went off after running at 3500 for about 10 minutes. it cleared and i stopped for about an hour (fishing). then i ran home for 20 mintues at 4500 rpms with no alarm. when it does sound, it seems to clear itself within 10-20 seconds, regardless of whether i slow or keep going.

i've cleaned the filter and changed the primer bulb. hoses all seem to be intact. could it be the sensor? how hard is it to get that part(s) and change? i have the manual, just haven't looked yet. thanks-

It could be air in the oil line. If the vro detects no oil...it sounds...if it recieves oil again...it quits.

TMD

The check engine alarm is fuel restriction, check the anti-siphon valve on fuel tank pickup tube.
