Johnson 150 Fast Strike Carb and Hose Issue

Was able to run the boat today to really check it out . I had a issue with the carburetors,I think . The engine started up great and ran really well .When it was idling and in like a non wake zone I had a really strong gas smell and noticed fuel on the water.. After I returned hone there was still strong gas smell. I removed the cover and pumped the fuel ball and you can see that gas is leaking from in the center of the carbs. I have a picture that shows the approximate area . I also have a small hose that is not connected .I am unable to see whee it goes . Could d this be the cause of the fuel leaking? I have attached a couple of pic showing the hose . The other i where it appears the fuel is leaking .

I was unable to see the pics. When carbs flood, which is what your issue sounds like, it is usually bad floats and/or inlet needles and seats.

It appears to be coming from the center of the carbs and only looks like it is directly in the center .Would that cause the engine to run erratic and not want to start ?

Thats kinda what I thought bit there is nothing but a hole there . There is fitting for the bottom hose but just he hole on top..

The hose should be a slip fit into the hole in the airbox. That hose could leak a small amount of fuel, since it is part of the vapor pump system. If you see real liquid fuel, especially in the carb throat, it is likely the carbs leaking.

Yeah thats where the hose slips into. If you push all the way in it slips enough that it seal to keep it from falling out. . As for he fuel it appears to be coming out near the intake about the same height as as the red knob in the picture . I have been told that these engine have issues with the bowls losing there shape and leaking but it looks like it is coming from the between top two cards and center two . With the cowling off you can pump the fuel bulb and see it drip out but not exactly sure where

When my E150ELEOM was leaking from the center of the carbs, it was from the VRO. The fuel line plugs into a boss and that boss was cracked. That means a new pump. Sorry for the worst thoughts. I was going to delete the VRO but because of the crack, it meant a new pump for me. I went with a new VRO oiling pump. That was 2004. Still working.

It's probably the cover of the vst leaking. Replace o ring gasket, careful with the screws. Turn them backwards until they seat so you do not make new threads.

Thanks for the post guys. I am hoping that it is the latter . As soon as I know for sure I will let you know for sure .A friend of my dad has workrd on outboards for about thirty years is retired and works on boats on the side ,said he would take a look at it .

if you can see it leak...it has nothing to do with the hose that goes into the airbox!! most likely you have a broke zip tie -hose clamp. But that said there are a lot of places that the plastic cracks and leaks come...I just had one on the primer-shcrader valve...the oil ring was good, but the split plastic let gas squirt out.... leaks are one thing...but If you are seeing a squirt!!...that is a fuel line issue to me......

Went yesterday and had it checked out at a marine shop and the oil injection pump is what is leaking .It appears to have crack it in the furl line bosses . Maybe Santa can pick one of those up on his way .!!!!!!

So sorry to hear. Mine was the same. Take stock in the fact that you will probably get another 10 years out of the new one. Mine still going (touch wood )
