I have a 1990 Johnson 150 GT.It was not getting fire to #2 cylinder.I replaced all the coils and still no fire to #2.Compression is 95 on all 6 cylinders.I installed a new power pack(guy at marina said thats what i needed) and still no fire on #2.I installed new trigger and stator and still no fire to #2.Im over $800 in parts alone and cannot get spark to #2.Any suggestions or Ideas that I may try? I am stumped by this one and dont want to put any more money in it and still have the same problem.PLEASE HELP

You've pretty much replaced all of the normal ignition components on the engine. You'd think one of those parts would have been at fault. So you are down to the really unusual potential problems-seldom seen on these engines. I'm wondering if you have a flywheel timing ring problem.

I can switch #2 orange wire from powerpack with number #4 orange wire from power pack and #2 will fire but #4 wont.So im guessing it is not firing out of powerpack on #2 orange wire.Powerpack, trigger and stator are brand new but still no fire to #2.I did not have fire to #2 prior to the new parts either. What else controls spark that could cause this? Ive checked all connections, grounds and everthing is okay.Flywheel is good....scratching my head.

Before checking timer base. Trade power packs from one side to the other. Remember orange blue wire top coil
orange in the center
orange green on bottom.
see if the problem moves with pack if so your new pack is bad.

When you say 'no fire to #2' do you mean #2 is getting no spark or #2 isn't doing anything?
IE, checked with a spark tester or checked by cylinder drop test?

Amazing to hear that you initially had #2 not firing and then you replace all the components and still have no fire on that same #2 cylinder. The odds are nearly impossible. I mean IF you verify a bad NEW pack, something took out the number 2 firing capability. I can't see a new pack having the exact same problem as the old one. So maybe something is taking it out if the pack is determined bad now... JMHO!

And the OP hasn't been seen in years. One of the reasons we ask the old thread are left undisturbed and treated like a library book.
