I have a 1996 150 Ocean Runner. I ran it with the earmuffs on and it worked fine. I launched it at low tide, drove it to the dock, and about 20 minutes later (from the time I launched it) the OH alarm came on.

I changed the thermostats( first time), let it run for about 20 minutes at the dock, it seems to run OK (no alarm). The area around the thermostat housing is a little hot to the touch, is that normal?

Re: Johnson 150 Overheat Problem

The engine should operate at about 140* which feels hot to the touch. I think the high temp switches close at about 200*. If you really want to know the temp, spend about $80.00 and buy a non-contact infrared thermometer. They're handy.

c/6

Hooty
