Johnson 150GT on a 14ft Fiberglass boat...

DO IT. HAVE FUN Don't let the old farts here scare ya from having fun. It will probably be a witch to get figured out, but would first DO A FOOT THROTTLE. Gonna need some good trim tabs too...like a flat bottom with solid adjustable mounts...feel your way around till its gets figured out. I DO think that GT is a little heavy though...I'd sell it and look for a old Merc, like Bondo said..lighter. This pic is a 16 foot Flatty thats super light...and insane. Friend owns it, he has another just like it, and I'm looking to find me another XS150 to MAYBE stick on...I'm getting a little old for this stuff (well, not old, just not quite so crazy anymore)....we will know more come spring....

SWEET boat! Very cool. That's a Rayson Craft isn't it? My dad had one just like it - same color and everything; it has a Merc 1350 shorty. That thing with a XS150 would be insane!

Back to this post... This is a joke, isn't it? No one is REALLY going to put a GT 150 on a little 14 footer, are they? This is too funny to be real. I check back on this post every once in awhile and I laugh every time I read it.

Ya know, I really don't know who made it...he picked it up from a guy in OR I think. Guys old school Merc freak...has the white and black Tower of Power's all over his shop (walls lined with'em). Yep on the XS150, its a SS (of course). Thats the maiden voyage. Really squirrelly, only a single bottom fin. Needs trim tab/prop work. He found another one, dual fin, so that the next project. Everything on hold for winter. I have some interest in the blue one, but all he has in the way of a motor is a 140SS, and after having a XS150 back in the 70's, no way I can go DOWN in HP!. Course, I stick a XS block under that 140 cowl, maybe that would work! Getting hard to find though

This is all real ..... anything is possible ..... if I can run a 70hp on a 8,5 foot inflatable and a 200hp on a 16ft, then you can run a 150hp on a 14ft ....

Okay, you have a few choices. First is the standard issue burial in a cemetary. You have a lot of coffin choices however. Me, I would go with stainless if I was to be buried. Then of course, you have cremation. You can have your urn kept at a mausolium, or you can have your ashes spread by loved ones at a predetermined location.

Seriously, the stern of a 12 foot aluminum boat could not support the weight of that motor, you would simply swamp over the transom and sink upon launch. This of course is assuming you are serious. I am getting the feeling you may be joking...

I dont see why this is such an untouchable feat. I have a 14 ft with a 60HP and I think it could float another 200 lbs hanging on the transom. How much does the 150 weigh??

Now, I have no clue what will happen when speeds got up past 45 or so.

Ok today i relised me, a 40 yamaha and 2 guys in the boat was nearly sinking it.. So Im going to have to say NO to the aluminm boat cause thats just to much I dont have that much "courage" to drive that with a 150. Anyways I still want to put it on a 14fter But it could be some whack stuff.

From Oregon, huh? That's where my dad was from. Where in Oregon? If it's in the Portland area, I'd be willing to bet that that boat is the SAME boat my dad owned! The reason I say that is that the color is identical to the one my dad owned. It was painted; that's not the original gelcoat color. Looks EXACTLY like the boat my dad owned.

Well, it darn sure could be. He (my friend) got it off Craigslist when I spotted it and let him know of it. I THINK it had a 115 on it. Just not sure. Anyway, its sold already...Merc went to Illinois for 3500 bucks, boat went somewhere here in Washington
