Well well, the motor does not seem to be short after all. I trimmed it down and it looks okay. Let me know what you think Walleyhead. I just e-mailed you the pictures.

Again, thank you very much for your help!!

Re: Johnson 150HP revs up

Motor set-up looks like there shouldn't be a problem....it's not anywhere close to being high enough to cause ventilation. That stingray shouldn't be causing any problems either...the prop is an OMC SST-II, NOT an aluminum prop, blades look good to me, but I would inspect the leading edges of the blades for ANY chunks, chips, dings, or bends.
I would take a look under the boat, make sure there is no damage that would create a water-flow change into the prop.
Do you have a prop-shop in your area??

I haven't seen any damage under the boat. I will check again this weekend. I will take the prop to a shop I know. I will also check the hub.

Thanks.

I'd be interested in knowing the distance between the top edge of the cavitation plate and the bottom of the boat/keel.

How do I post a picture? I'm trying to click on the image option but I can't browse to the location to attach my images.

By the way, I checked and there is no damage to the haul of the boat. A few scratches but nothing big.

Re: Johnson 150HP revs up

Hi Walleyehed,

I stopped by a boat shop by Castaic lake and they told me that the motor’s anti ventilation plate should not be more than 1 inch above the bottom of the boat. They also told me that if the pitch of the prop is too high it could cause the problem I'm having...what do you think? My anti ventilation plate was about an inch and a half above the bottom of the boat. I now have lowered the motor and it's in line with the bottom of the boat so I hope this will fix the problem. I have not taken the prop to a mechanic but I will do that this week.
