Hello,
I have twin 1998 Johnson 175 Ocean Runner with Ficht option aka fuel injection. I just did a tune up on them and replaced plugs,all filters and leg oil. I got them started and starboard side was running good at idle and high rpm. Port side engine started fine but once running at idle it will pop out of the exhaust followed by a cloud of blue smoke or oil smoke. It just sits there and goes pop ,pop, pop and then evens out but then will start poping again. At high rpm it does not pop and runs ok.
So here is my question. What could be wrong with them. To much oil coming in from the oil injection pump(floods the plugs) at idle,some miss from ignition, or something else I am missing here. Like I said tune up was done with correct plugs and I did try to index them to best of my ability so the faced the injector on opn end. I did check compression and it was low 100psi and then buttom cylinders were high comrpession. My motor that runs good actually showed lower compression but I dont have any idle problems on that one. I know compression is low but I am trying to squeeze one more year out before repower.
Also how do i get the codes of the engines or where do I get the software or the plug. So let me know what to look for or if anyone had same problem. Like I said at high rpm there is no pop or miss.
