I have an 86 Johnson 175 with no spark. When I put my hand under the flywheel I can move the magnets. Can this be causing a no spark situation? I had the boat running a few weeks ago and was already to drop her in the water and "poof" no spark on any cylinders. I did the shift switch test, a resistance test on the stator (800 ohms) and now wonder if it may be the magnets.

I've seen a lot of mtrs run with loose magnets. Seening you have no spark, pull the flywheel and check for any damage. They have epoxy kits to glue the magnets back in.

Not an uncommon problem on those old Johnnyrudes

Bombardier makes a glue kit to reglue those magnets back in place. Ask any dealer for glue kit 431929. Probably under $10. If you need new magnets, ask for the magnet kit 584304-probably around $17. (84 and newer)
