Welcome Ron!

The sender is on the port stern bracket on the inside. You'll have to tilt the motor up to see it. Be careful when working in there. Use the tilt bracket to secure the motor while you got your hands in there.

You might just check to make sure you have power to the gauge first. Also make sure the wires are all still connected.

If the sender arm is stuck -- that'd be the problem!

5800 is good, 5500 is not so good. It must be a pretty decent rig. What prop are you running? At least a 22 I'm guessing.

Must be a pad bottom hull. Yes it will take some getting used to. Especially if you have hydraulic steering. If you have a jackplate try bumping it up a tad.

Re: johnson 175

As long as the motor is stock, as produced, 87 will be fine. Thats assuming the heads havent been cut, youve got the right spark plugs and the timing is set correctly.

Thats impressive for the small diameter Renegade. It'd be real interesting to try a larger diameter prop.

Great rig. Should be a lot of fun. Nice to see it doesnt have hydraulic steering. Basically its a pad bottom hull. The flat part of the V is like a ski. At speed you have to balance it on that ski. It takes a staedy hand and requires a good "feel" in the wheel. You'll get it. Just take your time. Theres nothing like the feel of a boat up on the pad.

Re: johnson 175

By theory a larger pitch prop will hurt holeshot. What is your top rpm with an average load?
