Johnson 1967 60HP Tilt question

I have a Johnson 1967 60 HP outboard. When travelling I am having problems when the trailor goes over bumps, with the little bracket that holds the motor up during transport falling down. The motor then drops all the way down which is dangerous as the bottom part could scrape against the ground. Is there any way that the motor can be held in tilt position until I get the boat ramp without it falling off the hinge?

Sure, there are lots of trailering supports on the market. They probably have them here at iboats, but I haven't looked.
The time honored method was just stick a piece of 2x4 in there. To make it the deluxe model, put a couple of screw-eyes in the 2-by for some pieces of nylon cord to tie it in so it doesn't fall out.

ricky, we use to put a piece of 1x2 between the motor and transom bracket. the little lever on the side is to hold up only when beaching, then someone came out with the U shaped piece that hooked into the trim adjusting holes, and lifted up, and lock in the tilt lock. of course this put extreme stress on the transom. finally someone came up the the transom saver. FR post is the basic one, here's the refined ones
