Hi,

How do you adjust the throttle control? This one has the throttle and shift levers separate.

When I push the Throttle full forward and adjust the cable to push the speed lever on the motor to the rear, the throttle plate only opens 1/4 of the way. On lawn mowers the plate opens all the way.

Confusing.

The engine must be in forward gear in order for the throttle butterfly to open fully.

If the engine is in forward gear and you still have that problem, disconnect the throttle cable from the engine, then push that throttle linkage (The same on the cable was attached to) as far as it will go. Does the throttle buttery fly open fully now?

Joe,

No, the throttle plate wasn't open all the way after pushing the throttle part as far back as it would go after disconnect the remote cable.. I did loosen the control rod screw and positioned the rod so the plate was just fully open, then tightened the screw. It seemed to put a lot of pressure on the rod when full opened. My OEM manual said the throttle lever must touch the stop on the cylinder. I can't see where anything could touch the cylinder. The only stop I can see is the rubber knob that hits the cam. Thanks.

Joe,

I found another manual and I think I've got it figured out. There is a groove worn in the cam and a flat spot on the roller. I have to move the cam 1" before the plate starts opening. I just won't get an instant response. It looks like it is in about the same place as it started.
