johnson 1979 V4

I have just bought a Herwa with a Johnson 100 1979 V4 seahorse outboard. I was told that this has been stood for 2 years out of water. I have had the bottom of the drive/leg off and had seems ok. There has been a lot of corrosion on the bottom of the leg which looks as if it has been sat in salt water but not sure.
What do I need to do before trying to start the engine?
