Hi,

There is a long thin spring that wraps around a pink lever next to the starter. Does it go up through the bottom slot of this pink lever or on the outside of the lever? I tried doing it on the outside and it got bent, even though thats where I think it was before.

I tried to find the part on evinrude .com wihtout sucess.

Thank.s

What your referring to is the starter paw and spring. This is a safety device that prevents you from starting the engine at full throttle.

It works off the ignition plate under the fly wheel. If the throttle is advanced to far, cams on the ignition plate will push against the paw. The paw then locks into the starter pulley preventing you from pull starting the engine.

Look at the spring....you'll see a short tap and a long one. (this is going to be hard to describe)

Push the spring into the round slot and turn it so the short spring tab is between the ignition plate and paw.

The long spring tab will go on the outside of the metal arm coming up from the recoil starter. The paw goes between the metal arm and starter pulley.

Is this making any sense so far?????d:)

OBJ,

Thanks for the help. The small end was already pinned so the rest was easy. I usually draw a picture, but didn't this time. Thanks again. Bob
