Would someone help me out on a carburator question,I purchesed a o m c manual for my outboard,it states this motor has two double throat carbs, that are low speed ajustable. My carbs are not low or idle speed ajustable, and by what i can see i have four carbs. The manual was sold as a 1995 but the date on the cover is 1994 covers motors from 125 hp 130hp 250 and 300 hp.Was there anny change from 1994 to 1995 in these carbs?Help would be appreachiated thanks. J,C,

jc....easiest way to find out if you got the right manual is to see if your engine model number is listed in the first few pages of the manual as models covered by the manual. The models covered should be listed in the general info section.

There was no 130hp in 94'.

There was a 135hp made tween' 74' and 76' I believe. These had double throat carbs.

Why not post the model number and we'll see what we can find.

No doubt your model number indicates a 95'. The year on the manual don't always indicate the year the manual is for. Sometime it's the print year.

If the manual you have says you got double throat carbs, sounds like the wrong manual with the wrong cover.

Do any of the illustrations in the manual look like your engine? If not, I would take it back or call the place of purchase, explain your problem and see if they will make it right.

Yes the engin pictures are like mine. When they say two dual throat carbs, do they mean a total of two or is it two carbs per cilinder bank?my motor has four in total this confuses me,which is not to hard to doo,Ha Ha. have a nice evening thanks. J,C.

Re: Johnson 1995 130 double throat carbs.

Looper carbs are made up of carb bodies and throttle bodies. On a V4 each (of the 2) throttle bodys has 2 "throats", one throat for one cylinder. Each throttle body uses 2 carb bodies. The assembly is considered a dual throat carb assembly. On your V4 it takes 2 of these assemblies.

A looper V6 has 4 carb assemblies. 2 with dual throats, just like your V4, and 2 single throat assemblies.

Confused yet? Remember, we're talking loopers here, not crossflows.

Glad that helped. It really is confusing until you see the assembly off the intake. Especially the "4 carbs on a V6" deal.

Thanks from me to Dhadley.....never really thought of them as two throat carbs. But as an assembly, guess you could call it that...

Re: Johnson 1995 130 double throat carbs.

It was real confusing when it came out on the V6's as 4 carbs. One of the drag race organizations didnt understand it and wanted to make a rule that all V6's had to run 3 carbs (2 barrels each) in the stock and super stock classes. But thats what they were used to seeing.

That was a drivers meeting that got real heated!
