I bought this motor a month ago used, the first time on the water the engine did not run correctly.
I brought the motor into the shop to be inspected, I was told the cylinder walls were scored. 2000.00 for repair.
The seller does not want to help me finacially with this problem.
My question is, can the cylinders be honed without removing the powerblock, In otherwords
can the pistons be removed without a complete disassembly of the motor?
Repairing it myself seems to be the only affordable solution for this problem.

You'll have to remove the p/h from the exhaust hsg and completly disassemble it to do any work on it. Get an OEM factory service manual and you may be able to do it yourself.

Thanks for the input, the damage to the lower cylinder may be more than .030". If when measured, damage can is less than .030", would it more prudent to repair this one or to buy a used powerhead?

If you can rebuild this one, do it. Then you'll know what you have rather than taking a chance on a used one.
