Re: Johnson 225 HO cutting out @ WOT

Ok so I have a loss of quick start. I did the test to the temperature switch like the manual says but it doesnt say what else to try if the temperature switch test turned out ok (which it did)....So now I'm stuck ...any advice on what to check next since the manual left me hanging.

You should still be able to get it started without Quickstart.
How does it run otherwise, any other symptoms?

Well I haven't got timing set yet due to the fact I was worried about the quick start not being right. Should I just disregard the fact quick start is even part of my outboard and set timing like I don't have it. I figured if there was a problem with the quick start i should ignore it and end up replacing expensive parts I cant afford right now lol.;)

It still had its problems last time I took it out trying to time it. I thought I had it figured out since the first lap it actually got out of the hole and had plenty of power but after that first lap it would start dieing when engaging it again and no power on acceleration and no top end. That's why I checked quick start and found out it wasn't working.

Ok, I took the boat out today and things got worse lol. One of my carbs is leaking really bad when running now. It is coming out of the hole directly below the trottle body and above the bowl drain screw. There is no jet in there..it looks to be just an overflow? maybe a vent of some sort. What would be causing my carb to be doing this? I really don't want to pay for another rebuild kit.

Ok I did a little research and it seem like it is leaking out of a vent...looks like I'll be tearing into it once again :( I can't wait til I get this motor running well, then I can get to work making the boat shine.:):)
