My trim gauge on my 225 Venom was not working. I
replaced the gauge - still not working. I could use some trouble shooting help. Do I just replace the sending unit or is there a way to troubleshoot it first?? If it turns out to be the sending unit where is the best place to get one??

Thanks

Re: Johnson 225 Venom trim gauge

Assuming that with the key on, you have 12v being applied to the gauge, with the key on test the gauge by running a small jumper wire from the sensor (S) terminal of the gauge to ground. That connection should peg the gauge if it's okay and voltage is being applied, and of course assuming it has a good ground.

If the above checks out. Trace the wires from the sending unit, dsiconnect them and check the sender with a ohm meter. There should be a smooth movement from one extent to the other.
