Well I think I found a lower unit for my 25hp. My present motor is Model # 25R74M (Ser # E4020482) and my donor motor is Model 25R73A (ser# E3885828). The donor appears to have few hours plus electric start. The owner said his son ran it without oil mixed fuel and ruined a cylinder. I'm tempted to check that out first. Anyway, can I swap the lower units on these motors? Thank You!
Michael

You might want to look up the two models in the BRP Parts Catalogs and satisfy yourself on that:

BRP Parts Catalogs

The '73 should have a standard magneto ignition (coils under flywheel), while the '74 should have the low-tension magneto (coils on cylinder head). Outside of that, the motors are pretty close. Yes, the units will swap out.
- Scott
