Re: johnson 35 HP 1957 javelin emergency

i got the low speed idle adjusted to where I can take all of the low speed cruises around the lake that I want.

high speed is a different story. I started the high speed idle at about 2 turns out. then I continually turned it a 1/4 turn and revved it up. repeat about 20 times.

she bogs down when i give it gas at all adjustments of the high speed idle.doesnt stall, just doesnt go faster I am afraid that at some point I'm going to keep riching the high speed until that valve just pops out of the carb...

what other things might cause my high speed idle to be ineffective? the carb is rebuilt and clean. added an inline filter to guarantee no crud comes up from the tank. replaced all air and gas lines.

i ngot this all figured out......the throtle cable doesnt have enough throw to push the throttle to advance the timing I guess. when I go back there and do it by hand, it works like a champ!

duh.

Re: johnson 35 HP 1957 javelin emergency

I need help with my 1957 Johnson javelin 35 hp gold top, I have it running really good, But I believe there is a fuel problem, I get the motor started easily, and it quits after a minute or two, stays running if I keep priming the gas valve, I believe its the tank I got a 2 line pressure tank, I've cleaned the tank and pump, I've replaced all the gas lines, it still just quits then spills fuel out from carb area, Is it having too much pressure or dirty? I have been reading these threads trying to figure it out, Thank you
