Johnson 4 Tilt Lever

I just bought and old AMF Sunbird with a 1982 Johnson 4 Sailmaster that has a totally rusted & corroded tilt lever. So far on calm days the engine stays down when I want it and up when I want it. However, when the wind and waves pick up I'm worried the motor will not say in position. I have been reading the forums and found the part I'm looking for but it is generally not available. When it is the price is $90+ which I cannot pay for such a tiny piece. Does anyone have a home grown solution or alternative or do I just need to buck up and pay the $90? Any help is great appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Re: Johnson 4 Tilt Lever

You might try ebay for a used lever or assy from which you can use the lever.
