Johnson 40HP 1981, are they good engines?

I am looking at a Johnson 40HP 1982 year, I am told it has points ignition, above prop exhaust, pull start, it is being sold by main dealer and asking price is very expensive, this is because of its original condition which is described as almost new, it is to compliment my old motorboat and wonder if they are good engines considering the points ignition and pull start, are spares easy to get etc? thank you JBD

parts are easy in the US. the one you are looking at is probably mfgr in Belguim plant. Yes they are reliable engines, and having points make easy to work on. than the electronics.
