Hello!
I have a 1992 Johnson 48hp spl outboard, the model number is j48eslenb. I am having problems with not being able to shift into gears. I have checked the shifting cables and they are not locked up and slide freely. My problem is at the controls by the steering wheel. The shifting mechanism with the shifter handle has two wires that go into the mechanism to shift. I have figured out that one of the wires goes to the ignition switch where you put the key in and the other wire goes to the negative terminal where the battery is located. I’m not for sure what the two wires go to inside the shifting mechanism, maybe a switch or a kill switch. The shifter was working fine a week ago then I came back to try and use the shifter and it would not shift. The handle would not move at all to shift. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
