Johnson 48hp special Outboard running problems.

Hello!

I have a Johnson 48hp spl outboard, the model number is j48eslenb. I am having problems with it staying running and i can give it throttle and it instantly dies. It has strong spark, good spark plugs, and good fuel flow. It ran about a year and a half ago but it was running a little rough and would not run at full power. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You could start with a carb cleaning and rebuild.

Any and all trouble shooting starts with a compression test.-----Post the numbers Here.-----Mixing gas and oil at 50:1 in the tank ?

I did clean the carb but not good enough! Thanks for the info!

I am running a 50:1 ratio for gas.
