I am wondering about the fuel mixture, spark plug gap and proper start-up method for the motor. I am not sure when this motor was started last so any precautions and prefire-up checks would also be appreciated.

he gave us the model # in title, it is a 1969 4hp. 50:1 fuel:TC-W3 outboard oil. proper plug is Champion J6C gapped at .030, ignition point .020. water cooled.

I saw the model number but I'm not certain so I always have to look them up to figure out what motor were talking about. I'd prefer if it said Johnson 1969 4HP. Maybe, in time, I'll learn them. Great little motors they are though. Only wish they had a gear shift. Thanks, Rick.
