I am having problems with this motor. It is not pumping water. The impeller and the plate look almost new. I am not sure if there is any other trouble shooting I could do to figure out what is going on with it. This motor is new to me. When I received it I put it in the tank and it pumped water fine after a little coaxing from the hose. Now I am not sure what is wrong with it. I have had it torn apart twice now and to no avail I cannot determine the problem. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Why do you say it is not pumping, ballplayer? Does it overheat?

There is no telltale on a QD-20. Water exits with the exhaust at the back of the lower leg.

Ah, you say the motor is new to you so there is no history of the engine.

The "coaxing" of the water hose could mean (to me) (3) things. 1) It wasn't in enough water to pick it up (too shallow), 2) water pump impeller is shot(some or all blades are broke/missing or 3) could be a blown head gasket keeping it from coming up to the power head. Check your compression readings and see if a big variance is there or a sign of water blowing out one of the sparkplug holes.
This should get you in the running unless some strange things are occuring. Post back results and we'll go from there.
