Serial Number j3008160
Model #55esl69a

Where do I find information about this motor? I have the Seloc Manual but I have been reading about an electric gear box and a manual gear box? Now I am reading about the hydro electric something....with plungers and I am confused.....

The problem I am having is that the engine just won't crank. It cranked for a while then it stopped cranking.... I bumped into the throttle assemby and it cranked for a bit then stopped again... I think it is in the assembly... Possibly the shift switch I will check for continuity this weekend... I am thinking of possibly bypassing it until I can get a new one... Any thoughts????

Thanks in advance.... I really want to know exactly what kind of motor I have......

Matt

Hi, Matt.

According to your model number your engine is a '69.

Sounds like your neutral-start switch is bad or misadjusted. It defeats the starter circuit unless the engine is in neutral.

Good luck. :)

OK, I have returned from fixing the safety switch. IT RUNS. I took it around the lake and filled her up with gas.

I have another question though that I can't seem to find an answer for in the Seloc Manual. I have a switch on the front of the motor. It has three choices, choke on, automatic, choke off. The motor will only start with the switch on choke off... As long as it starts I am fine, but I wonder why it won't start with the lever in the automatic position???

Other than that I have a battery drain that I have to find next week Saturday.... Then I am good to go for the fishing season...

Should I post this in a new topic?

Thanks for your help

Matt
